Craftsman Auto Care - Mclean
What an awesome experience! I'm the original owner of a 1997 BMW 318i, and I love the car, but over the years, marriage, kids, minivans, and baseball practices intervened and the Beamer was neglected and in serious disrepair (don't judge). My boy wanted to drive a stickshift though, so I figured, what the heck, I'll take it in to Mclean Service Center, near my home, and see what they think, only to find out it had been purchased by Matt Curry and was now Craftsman Auto Care in Mclean. Matt was in the shop when I brought it in....he's a serious lover of BMW's....and came outside personally to look at the car. I got a good vibe from him right from the start....a real straight shooter....he said he'd have his guys take a look and get back to me. He called me the next day....now, keep in mind, a shop doesn't make any money by telling you the car is too far gone and you should save your money, but that's exactly what he said. I really appreciated his advice, but I explained the car had sentimental value, I wanted to get it fixed up for my boy, so money aside, could he actually do the job and get the car back to its former glory? Did Matt get impatient? Feel like I was wasting his time, or giving him an impossible task? Hell no! He got really excited....."Yes, charlie! yes! I love this story! If you will trust me, I promise you my guys will get this car back to when it was new and even better!" Where do you see that in a car repair shop? Nowhere I've ever been. And Matt was as good as his word. The car runs like a top.....he did stuff I didn't know I needed....upgraded suspension.....17" wheels instead of 15"?.....who knew? Car runs like the day I drove it off the lot! Getting it painted now....should be like new. Look for me around Mclean. Thanks again, Matt....and shout out to the crew in Chantilly....Andrew, Brandon, and Mike, who did the actual work and were super helpful and communicative as well. And yes, if you're wondering, it was a fair chunk of change, but to gain a car repair shop with people you can really trust......that's well worth the cost.
